A photograph of MahitoA Memorial Scholarship account has been set up at California State University, Monterey Bay in memory of Mahito Shirako. The goal is to raise $25,000 or more over the next two years so that The Mahito Shirako Scholarship may be awarded to a deserving student every year, in perpetuity.

If the fund total is less than $25,000 at the end of two years, The Mahito Shirako scholarships will be granted annually until the funds are expended.

Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. There are several easy ways to make a donation in Mahito’s name:

  • Click here to donate online. Make sure to enter "Mahito Shirako" in the Additional Information section.
  • Mail a check made out to “University Corporation” with “Mahito Shirako” written on the remarks line on the lower left front of the check and mailed to University Advancement, 100 Campus Center, Seaside, CA 93955-8001.
  • For Direct Bank Account Donations, CSU payroll deductions or recurring credit card deductions, please contact Ms. Jennifer Martinez at jenmartinez@csumb.edu or (831)582-3070.

Unless the donor specifies otherwise, Mahito’s family will be notified of every donation made to The Mahito Shirako Scholarship Fund including the name of the donor without specifying the amount of the gift.
